What this website collects, why, and what your rights are.

Who we are
This website is run by Tim McEnhill, trading as Gecko Enduro Tours, 6 Rue de la Prison, Caudiès-de-Fenouillèdes, 66220, France. We are the data controller for personal data collected through this site. You can reach us at tim@geckoendurotours.eu or on +44 7793 215376.
What we collect and why
Enquiry form. Your name and email address, and if you give them, your phone number, the tour and dates you are interested in, the number of nights and riders, whether you are bringing your own bike, and your message. We use these only to reply to you and plan your trip. Our lawful basis is taking steps you have asked for before booking a tour.
Spam protection. When you send the form, your IP address is recorded briefly to limit how many enquiries can be sent in an hour, and the message is checked automatically for spam. Messages that look like spam are discarded, so if you think a genuine enquiry did not reach us, please email. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure.
Website statistics. We use two analytics tools, Vercel Web Analytics and Umami, to see which pages are visited and which buttons are used. Neither uses cookies or tracks you across other websites. They record things like the page, the site that referred you, your browser and device type and your approximate location. Your IP address is used briefly to count unique visitors but is not stored. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used.
Visit recordings. Umami also records a sample of visits so we can see how the pages are used: where people tap or click, how far they scroll, and a replay of the visit showing mouse movement, scrolling and the pages viewed. Anything you type into the enquiry form is masked before it leaves your browser, and the recordings are not linked to your name or contact details. We use them only to find parts of the site that are confusing or broken. Our lawful basis is the same legitimate interest, and you can object at any time by emailing us.
Who handles your data for us
We use a small number of service providers to run the site. They only use your data to provide their service to us:
- Vercel - hosts the website and provides visitor statistics
- Resend - delivers enquiries to our email inbox
- Upstash - stores the short-lived spam-protection counter
- Hall Web Design - our web developer, who maintains the site and runs the Umami analytics and visit recordings
- Google - the map on the About and Contact pages, if you choose to load it
Some of these providers are based in, or store data in, the United States or the United Kingdom. Where data leaves the European Economic Area, the transfer is covered by an adequacy decision or the provider's standard contractual clauses. We never sell your data or share it with anyone for their own marketing.
Cookies and Google Maps
This website does not set any cookies. The map on the About and Contact pages is provided by Google and only loads if you click it. When it loads, Google receives your IP address and may set its own cookies, and your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage so the map loads straight away next time. Google's privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.
How long we keep your data
- Enquiries stay in our inbox while we deal with them and any trip that follows, and for a reasonable time afterwards in case you have follow-up questions. You can ask us to delete yours at any time.
- The spam-protection record of your IP address is deleted after 1 hour.
- Visit statistics are kept only as totals that don't identify you.
- Visit recordings are deleted within 90 days.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and the UK GDPR you have the right to ask us for a copy of your personal data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. To use any of these rights, email tim@geckoendurotours.eu and we will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how your data has been handled, you can complain to the French data protection authority, the CNIL, at cnil.fr, or if you live in the UK, to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. If anything here is unclear, get in touch through the contact page.
